A systematic approach to Energy Management is an important means by which the energy efficiency of an organization can be continuously improved. Competitiveness can be increased through realistic cost reductions in addition to enhancing valuable resources. Thermamax began to implement an Energy Management System in accordance with ISO 50001 in 2013. In May 2014 it’s effectiveness was evaluated and approved for the first time by the external certifying body, DNV-GL.

Germany has the target to reduce its primary energy consumption by 20% by the year 2020 and by 50% by the year 2050 measured against a baseline in 2008. This target will not be reached without a huge push to increase energy efficiency. Over 50,000 companies have the Quality Management standard DIN EN ISO 9001 and over 6,000 have implemented the requirements for Environmental Management according to the DIN EN ISO 14001 standard. However only 750 companies in Germany have been certified to the Energy Management standard ISO 50001 or equivalent. (2012 basis)

For Thermamax, an innovative company with a systematic approach, seeking the voluntary certification of an Energy Management system is a logical step towards integrating the key areas of energy, safety, quality and environmental protection.

Peter Cappellucci, responsible for Energy Management at Thermamax: „Sustainability and competitiveness – we hear these words almost every day and they are amongst the key drivers for a well functioning Energy Management system. Efficient use of resources in all areas, but particularly in energy, is the most important challenge we face. The stock of fossil fuel sources is finite and whoever continues to rely on them has misunderstood the future. An efficient management of energy resources, new and innovative energy concepts and technologies are vital to successful market operation in the years ahead.“
