Formula Student Team KA-RacIng gets new insulated components from Thermamax

Ready to Race !

Marcel Nöller and Peter Alraun from KA-Racing with the new insulated components from Thermamax

On 30th April 2013 two young trainee development engineers, Marcel Nöller and Peter Alraun, representing Team KA-Racing from the  Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), took delivery of two insulated components from Thermamax in Mannheim.
These components are for the second generation design of the primary exhaust manifold and  for a completely insulated turbocharger housing. Both components use the Tmax-SONETHERM technology, a further development of the Tmax-Integral Insulation, which as well as high temperature and vibration resistance, has a high mechanical strength, provides excellent insulation, and a good noise-absorbing efficiency. The complete insulation of the turbocharger housing is something new for KA-Racing. The housing insulation gives improved protection for the peripheral components from excessive heat, the risk of which could quickly lead to race breakdowns for the student racing team. The insulation also ensures retention of overall system temperature to improve performance.
The new parts will now be fitted into the latest racing car from KA-Racing, the KIT-13c.

This year sees the start of competition for KA-Racing  with participation in the Formula Student UK at the Silverstone circuit in England, just one week after the Formula 1 event takes place there. Following that there is racing locally at Hockenheim with the Formula Student Germany series from 30th July to 4th August 2013. Further races include the Formula Student Hungary in Györ , and end with the Formula Student Austria to be held at the Red Bull Ring in the Steiermark.

Thermamax wishes the whole team every success and thanks them for the excellent cooperation on the project.
