The initial design of the RANGE+, an innovative e-charging solution by MTEE, insulated by Thermamax. Photo by MTEE.
At IAA 2017 MTEE will present The RANGE+, a new range extender concept to charge the batteries of a fully electric vehicle (BEV) while driving.
Thermamax developed the thermal insulation for various parts of this system: combustion chamber housing, turbine housing, inlet and outlet pipe, as well as outlet tube and exhaust bellow. The surface temperature of the different components ranges from 800 °C to 900°C. Different insulation solutions were applied:
| Tmax-Integral Insulation for the combustion chamber housing, turbine inlet, turbine outlet, turbine housing and outlet tube;
| Tmax-Compensator Insulation for the bellows
| Tmax-V-Band Clamp Insulation for the individual flange connection points.
The purpose of the insulation is
| to prevent excessive radiated heat and temperature rise thus protecting temperature sensitive components
| to retain the necessary process heat in the RANGE+ system thus improving overall efficiency.
You can learn more about the RANGE+ concept at IAA in Frankfurt, on the MTEE Stand 11 part of the Holland High Tech pavilion, in Hall 3.1, A31/A38.
